The Virtual Museum is a digital recreation of the experience of visiting The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum. The layout of the physical museum has been recreated in graphical form and the most important artefacts will be presented as digital images and objects accessible by clicking on the virtual display cabinets. The Virtual Museum makes The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum's most important artefacts available to all Canadians. The Museum has a large collection specific to the history of the Regiment but also important to Canadian military and Alberta history. The collection spans the years from the late-nineteenth century to the present and includes extensive collections of images, documents, maps, oral histories (drawn from the Museum's ongoing Oral History project), uniforms, diaries, scrapbooks (including material from Maj.Gen. W.A. Griesbach and Col. J.R. Stone), small arms, medals, and the various artefacts that define a soldier's experience. Of particular interest are large and unique collections of trench art, materials related to the homefront during wartime, and the bugle that signalled the end of the First World War at Mons, Belgium.
