The Canadian Military History Timeline

The Canadian Military History Timeline will be a WWW-based interactive digital resource highlighting the 250 most important events in Canada's military history. Each event description will explain the who, what, when, where, why, and the significance of the event.

The Timeline will emphasize Canadian actions in the Boer War, the First World War, the Second World War, the Korean conflict, and peacekeeping activities. Attention will also be paid to important events on the homefront during these clashes, ranging from changes in government policy to military actions on the homefront.

The Timeline will include extensive multimedia (primary documents, images, maps, graphs, sound, film, and object and image QuickTime VRs). The multimedia will give users direct access to digital replicas of some of the artefacts of our military's proud history. It will also help to re-capture something of the lives of our nation's soldiers.

End-users will be able to access the Timeline in two versions, one suitable for the Canadian general public and high school students and one suitable for children in younger grades (written at approximately a grade six level). Each version will be available in English or French. Curriculum consultants will help to ensure that materials are appropriate for Canada's classrooms.
