Introduction

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum Web site is intended both as a resource for the general audience interested in Canada's military heritage and as a pedagogical tool for educating our young people.

For Alberta teachers, this web site will be a useful resource in several specific subject areas.

Edmonton Public Schools Military History and History Curriculum

Military History 7
History 9
Military History 15

Province of Alberta Curriculum

Social Studies 10 and 13
Social Studies 20 and 23
Social Studies 30 and 33

In addition, teachers in other jurisdictions will find both Web site materials and teaching aids that are relevant to their circumstances.

Specific modules of Educating for Success will be particularly useful for particular topics. For instance, the Alberta Social Studies curriculum guide lists the "understanding of the role, rights, and responsibilities of a citizen in a democratic society and a citizen in the global community" as one of its principal goals. The Cost of Freedom module concurs with this aim, and many features of its site will aid in achieving a greater understanding of this goal.

Please be warned that some of the material in this site may be disturbing, particularly to young children. Discretion is advised.
