Goals

By creating this Web site, the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Museum hopes to achieve the following general objectives:

  • to use digital resources to enhance the ability of the Museum to fulfil its mandate to preserve and communicate The Loyal Edmonton Regiment's history;
  • to help Canadians to understand the importance of our military history;
  • to develop educational materials about Canada's military history specifically for young children;
  • to nurture a special relationship with Edmonton's L'Académie Vimy Ridge Academy, which emphasises the teaching of military history;
  • to develop closer relations with other museums in Canada by consulting with the larger museum community and sharing out experiences in creating this important digital resource; and
  • to research and model best practice for museums using digital technologies.

These general objectives will be attained by reaching the goals of the individual modules:

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment History Goal:

Cost of Freedom Goal: to honour the sacrifices made by the Canadian military and their families and to communicate those sacrifices in an effective manner to Canada's young people;

Canada's Military History Goal:
to create an interpretative history that will provide essential context for the other resources found on the site;

The Canadian Military History Timeline Goal:

The Virtual Museum Goal:
