In a partnership with the City of Edmonton’s “City Hall School”, the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum has participated in a series of visits by groups of students.
As part of the City Hall School program, students from various Edmonton schools have been visiting the Prince of Wales Armouries Heritage Centre once a week throughout the 2010/2011 school year. The students tour the City of Edmonton Archives, the Telephone Historical Centre, and the Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum, all of which are located within the POWA Heritage Centre.

The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum part of the tour includes a guided tour through our galleries and, time permitting, our storage facility. The students also have an opportunity to try on various articles of military kit and handle several other selected items from our collection. As part of the tour, the students do a word search game which helps to draw their attention to specific items on display. When time permits, we have also included a session of drill instruction, which the students actually enjoy. Also, when available, one of our Second World War veterans, Bill Teleske, accompanies the tour, tells a few “war stories”, and answers questions.
The Loyal Edmonton Regiment Military Museum is proud to support the City Hall School program and provide the students with an opportunity to experience the proud history and traditions of the military in the Edmonton area.
